Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the NyChat website, web application, and related real-time communications infrastructure (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Service. These terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Nyxen regarding your access to NyChat.
Service Description & Architecture
NyChat provides on-demand, temporary chat rooms accessible via web browsers. Users can create a room, share the room link or code with participants, select a temporary display name, and engage in real-time communication without creating a persistent user account.
The Service operates around temporary sessions. Room states and message history live in a temporary room store while participants are active, and rooms are removed when they end. NyChat does not provide permanent archiving or long-term storage of user messages; content reported for moderation may be retained for a limited review period.
Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use NyChat only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to use the Service:
- Collaborative team syncs and project discussions
- Temporary event coordination and community meetups
- Classroom study groups and ad-hoc study sessions
- Casual peer-to-peer conversations
- Distributing unlawful, abusive, or harmful material
- Conducting automated spam or flooding attacks on rooms
- Attempting to disrupt, exploit, or denial-of-service servers
- Impersonating others maliciously
User Responsibility & Room Security
Because NyChat operates without account logins, access to a temporary room is controlled by its complete secure invite link. The room code identifies the room, while the complete invite link additionally carries the client-side information required to establish the encrypted session. A room code alone does not contain enough information to decrypt a secure room.
Content Responsibility & Moderation
You retain sole responsibility for any messages, images, media, or text you submit to a room. NyChat does not pre-screen or continuously moderate private temporary conversations.
We reserve the right to remove rooms or disconnect clients in instances of verified infrastructure abuse, security violations, or legal requirements. When content is reported by participants, bounded evidence snapshots are preserved for safety reviews (see Privacy Policy §07).
Product Boundaries & Disclaimers
To avoid confusion regarding what NyChat is engineered to do and what falls outside its technical model, review these operating parameters:
What NyChat Provides
- Client-side encrypted room messaging (AES-256-GCM) with no server-side plaintext logs
- Ephemeral room lifecycles where message records dissolve when participants leave
- Direct peer-to-peer audio and video mesh streams without server recording
- Access-controlled media sharing bound to active room capability tokens
- Clear, honest disclaimers with zero tracking or advertising profiles
What Not To Assume
- !NyChat cannot recover lost room keys (URL fragments are never sent to the server)
- !NyChat cannot prevent participants in your room from taking screenshots or recording screens
- !Media uploads are access-controlled capability tokens, not end-to-end encrypted
- !Operational metadata and 90-day bounded moderation evidence exist for safety and abuse prevention
- !NyChat is not an emergency response dispatch or critical life-safety infrastructure
NyChat is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time without prior notice.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, NyChat and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your access to or use of the Service.
